Definition:

to start doing smth. troublesome;
to make a lot of troubles

Example:

Ex 1: Сам заварил кашу, сам и расхлёбывай.
Ex 2: Когда вы заварили эту кашу, я уже знал, что ни к чему хорошему это не приведёт.
Ex 3: Ну и кашу вы заварили!
 

Ex 1: As you brew so must you drink.
Ex 2: When you started this I had already known that no good would come of it.
Ex 3: A pretty mess you've made of it!
 

Бить тревогу
(beet' treevogoo)

Definition:

обращать внимание на грозящую опасность, стремясь предупредить её

Translation:

to pay attention to a possible danger trying to prevent it;
to sound the alarm

Example:

Толя забил тревогу, когда понял, что не успеет сдать контрольную работу в срок. Ему очень не хотелось получать плохую оценку.

Tolya sounded the alarm when he became aware of the fact that he would not be able to give his examination papers on time. He badly did not want to get a low grade.
